Domus

This week i developed one of my ideas further.

After a lot of scribbles this is where i ended up.

I thought that if i had a separate roof system i would be able to use both the top and bottom for water harvesting ( from rain and condensation ). The idea was for the roof to have walls on the east and west sides which would protect the building from the hottest sun, and then have it slanted on an angle to both aid the water run off and the shelter on the north windows.
I then thought of having the roof on an angle to the main building which would also have a roof, but a basic flat roof with the purpose of being thermally massive. This would allow for blocking afternoon sun from the west and north-west angles and also creating pockets where services such as water tanks can be housed on the south side.
The angle of the roof element would mean that the north-east corner would be revealed, so i decided a pergola type shading system would be suitable, cantilevering it from the main building.
I also thought of air flow through the building, thinking of having walls between bedrooms and living spaces partially vented at the top to allow air flow through the entire building.
